Has the summer nectar flow begun.....

Beekeepers everywhere have had a long wait this year. The weather has been very up and down. One day it's warm, the next cold. The poor bees don't know what to plan for.
When the weather is reasonably consistant in spring, the colony expands in numbers so that when the summer nectar flow begins they have enough foraging bees to bring in the stores.
Most beekeepers this year have had to prop up many colonies by supplying sugar syrup so that their hives didn't starve. It comes as a suprise to most people that a colony of bees can starve in Spring when there are many flowers available.
Well managed bee colonies should arrive at mid December with good stored honey in their hive. They are then good to go.
